Grandma’s Marathon, Inc.

G-Crew Runs
G-Crew runs are designed to explore the community with routes that accommodate any level of runner and usually end at a local establishment for a post run beverage. The run will begin at the Blue Bridge in Canal Park and similarly follow the William A. Irvin 5K route around the DECC, through Bayfront, up and over to Lake Place Park, back down and along the Lakewalk where it will end it at the Cold Front gathering to celebrate!

Glensheen

Moonlight Ice Skating on Tischer Creek
Glensheen will shovel off Tischer Creek allowing skaters to Ice Skate near Lake Superior. Skate under our famous Stone Arch Bridge which brings you to a rare side view of the Glensheen Mansion. In addition, we will have a fire with Smores near the Lake Superior Shoreline to warm you up after your unique skating experience. This event will be weather dependent and cancelled if the conditions are not acceptable or unsafe.

Children ages 14 and under are invited FREE of charge. Children will participate in a fun run around the indoor track. Participants will receive an official Saturday Morning at the Races T-Shirt and post-race snacks.Registration is between 9:00 and 9:50 a.m. with races starting at 10:00a.m.

Winter Trails Day
Free skiing on one of Duluth’s finest Nordic ski trails from 8am-5pm at the Spirit Mountain Nordic Center (https://www.duluthxc.com/spirit-mtn-nordic-center)! Free rentals and new equipment demos available all day. Free beginner classic ski lessons at 10am or 1:30pm (ages 8 to 98; registration required, here: https://www.zapevent.com/reg/event/15354). Free animal track guided snowshoe hike at 10:30am (equipment provided) by Youth Outdoors-Duluth. Free orienteering lesson and hike (all ages) at 3pm. Free bonfire and lunch for all from 11am-3pm!

Zeitgeist’s Winter Bike Week: Group Rides to Cold Front Celebration
Two family and beginner-friendly group rides. Ride options at Noon: meet at the Rose Garden or Corner Park in the Lincoln Park Business District. These guided rides both end in Canal Park at the Cold Front kick-off celebration. Bring your own bike, as we do not have any available for use. This event is part of Winter Bike Week.

A celebration of winter biking in all its forms. Whether for fun and recreation or transportation and commuting. Working with partner organizations in the Duluth area, Winter Bike Week will host community events, educational workshops, and family-friendly bike rides to demonstrate that winter biking is fun, practical, and accessible to most people in our community.

Zeitgeist’s Winter Bike Week: Ladies Mountain Bike Night
COGGS ladies will lead fat bike rides on the Duluth Traverse. All skill levels are welcome. There are a limited number of fat bikes available for use at no cost, courtesy of Spokengear Outdoor & Cyclery. Please visit web site to reserve a bike. Treats, hot cider, and a woodstove heated warming tent will be provided. Yellow Bike Coffee is also providing coffee and a $5 gift card to every participant. Bring lights (sun sets at 5:20) and a water bottle.

Zeitgeist’s Winter Bike Week: Bikes & Bites Tour
Join a food-inspired, family-friendly guided bike tour of Duluth! Start at the Zeitgeist with their pretzels, famous French fries and tips and tricks for winter biking. Riders will then bike together to the Duluth Folk School, where we’ll enjoy pork sliders or vegetarian sloppy Joe’s from OMC Smokehouse, cans Bent Paddle Beer, and live music from Four Mile Portage. Our last stop will be Bayfront Family Center, for s’mores by the fire, hot cocoa, and ice skating for those who would like.

COGGS Weekly Ladies Tuesday Night Ride

Join COGGS ladies for guided group rides on Duluth’s mountain bike trails!
Rides are open to everyone of all skill levels. Bring your bike, helmet, lights, and a water bottle. All rides start at 6:00 pm.

  • Feb 13th will meet at Hartley Nature Center Parking Lot
  • Feb 20th will meet at the Hawk Ridge Parking Lot off Glenwood
  • Feb 27th will meet at the Piedmont/Brewer Parking Lot on Haines Road.
