Guided tours of the Fairlawn Mansion will be offered at half-price during the Cold Front Festival Hours are 12-3 Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. 10-3 on Saturday. Tours leave on the hour with the last tour leaving at 3 p.m.

Free First Friday – Cool in the Cold
The Duluth Children’s Museum’s monthly Free First Friday is February 2nd from 5pm to 7pm. As part of Duluth’s Cold Front Celebration, the museum will be showcasing amazing cold science and winter crafts. Come find out how ice and salt can turn milk into ice cream, watch the wonders of liquid nitrogen, and learn about the culture of cold climates! The event is FREE and open to all families.

Discover how to recreate safely in the winter around water. At 11:00 am join Ranger India in the Lecture Hall to get a closer look at the obstacles Great Lakes mariners face in the winter with a presentation entitled “Sub-Zero”. 2:00 pm Ranger India will present another program, Tall Waters, Steel Ships, which covers the massive Mataafa Storm in 1905 that wrecked 29 Great Lakes Vessels.
“Tail” Gate Party
Wrap up the Cold Front Celebration on Sunday before the big game with a “tail” gate party at the Lake Superior Zoo! Bring your sleds and receive $1.00 off per ticket – up to 5 discounts per sled. Warm up at our sledding hill campfires with hot dogs, s’mores and hot chocolate. Keeper chats are scheduled throughout the day, as well as a lion training at 3:00 pm, weather permitting! Cold Front at the zoo runs from 11am to 3:30 pm.

The night will feature dancing and music, a pizza buffet and a magical candy table. There will be lots of enchanting fun with your favorite Mermaid and some of her princess friends. We will also have a fun photo and craft area with our friends from the Duluth Children’s Museum. Your daughter will have an enchanted evening under the sea with decorations from Duluth Balloon Co.
